Women’s wellbeing in the workplace
Understanding and working with the natural hormonal fluctuations can help enhance women’s productivity and well-being. Knowledge of the changes women go through, normalising the conversation about this and making reasonable adjustments leads to higher employee satisfaction, productivity and retention and benefits to the entire organisation.
As a women’s health specialist who has first-hand experience of early menopause due to cancer treatment Dr Mei-Ling talks about the changes women experience. Opening up the conversation around menstrual health, how heavy periods or endometriosis can significantly impact the working day, what “baby brain” and “brain fog” really are, and what it feels like to experience this in the work place.
Talking about women’s health matters. Ensuring their health needs are met in the workplace is essential to achieving gender equality. These aren’t just “women’s problems” they are a fact of life and affect everyone directly or indirectly. Knowledge discussion can help normalise this and signals a workplace that values its staff and fosters a supportive environment.
